How to create a Successful Goal Setting 2019

The New Year is right around the corner. Personally, I love this part of the year because it feels that is when we renew our energy and gather all our hopes, dreams, goals and high expectation of a new chance and beginning. The feeling of a brand the new agenda planner, smelling the new paper as you open it and filling in the brand new blank pages. The question is how can you keep your drive until the end of the year, and not giving up by March or April?

I am about to tell you a series of exercises to help you attain your personal targets, but be aware that only you can make things happen. I need you to be honest with yourself throughout this blog post. Having focus and strength to keep fighting for what you want won’t be easy; there will be bumps on the road obstacles along the way.

“It’s essential to know the distinction between dreams and goals. Both of those are fundamental, but we need to know to differentiate one from another. So how do we separate our dreams from our goals? And how and when do those meet?”

Having your intentions clear is an important process to tell yourself what you genuinely want to achieve, it is also a great way to let the Universe know so it can lead the energy your way. I will continue to say this: The Universe has big ears.

I am about to tell you a series of exercises to help you attain your personal targets, but be aware that only you can make things happen. I need you to be honest with yourself throughout this blog post. Having focus and strength to keep fighting for what you want won’t be easy; there will be bumps on the road obstacles along the way.

Write five reasons why you desire to attain this ambition; read it daily. Your reasons will keep your inner fire burning. If your heart isn't truly set in what you are wishfully thinking, your reasons will fail. And whenever you end up running into a tough phase, your vision may become blurry and you might end up losing track of why you were putting so much effort in the first place.

It’s essential to know the distinction between dreams and goals. Both of those are fundamental, but we need to know to differentiate one from another. So how do we separate our dreams from our goals? And how and when do those meet?

Dreams are peaceful imaginations that inspire us. It’s the idling thoughts in which we transport ourselves to a delightful different reality in our mind.

On the other hand, goals have intentions and actions. Takes endurance, time, effort, focus, patience, financial planning and timeframe for each step.

Often we mix both of those together losing track of what we can actually fulfill. Setting up a series of targets would be the break down of your great vision into smaller assignments that are possible to execute.

If you are confused and not sure how to separate those, you can write two lists. Start with your visions, the big picture of a faraway reality. Circle the ones which you perceive plausible, also check the ones that feels remote but that are possible to take actions and get closer to it. For each of the things you listed, mark down what are the steps you need to get there. Those are your goals.

On your second list, write down all your intentions. Order it by which ones need to be finished to reach the next step, make a time frame. Be mindful to pick a moderate amount that you will be able to succeed. If you have too much to keep control of, you may become frustrated, that might lead you to give up on all of them.

There are insecurities in all of us, and often we suffer more in our subconscious than in reality. To be able to conquer what you want, you must define your fears. That will encourage you to avoid self-sabotage and self-destruction.

Now that you have your list of plans handy. Let’s go through the following sequence of exercises. The Pre Meditation of Evils comes from the Stoicism. It will allow you to understand what you can and can not control along the way. It will also help you be prepare to remediate and save your goal from failing in every possible way.

- DEFINE: Determine your personal doubts of what could possibly go wrong, for best preparation write down from 10 to 20 of them:

"What if ... ?"

Carefully think and answer each of them separately:

- PREVENT: How you could prevent it from happening.

- REPAIR: How could you remediate/ fix the problem.

- What might be the benefits of an attempt or partial success?

- What would be the cost of Inaction (Emotionally, Physically, Financially, etc)? How would it affect you in 6 months, 1 year and in 3 years?

Being prepared for all potential outcomes will give you confidence and more peace of mind along the way. Trust the process, it may not be easy, but it is possible and it is worth it.

I am happy you are setting yourself for victory. One day I hope to receive a message from you, letting me know your journey and how you succeeded.
